Culture shapes every aspect of our lives. It informs what we think, say and do, the feelings and attitudes we express, and the way in which we interact with others. In the workplace, it is the underlying beliefs, assumptions and values that shape our everyday experience and determine our actions and behaviour.
The culture of our workplace impacts our engagement, motivation, performance and health and wellbeing. An inclusive organisational culture increases team innovation, creativity and knowledge sharing, boosts business performance and reduces staff turnover beyond specific diversity policies.
However, as regular news stories show, for many people the working world is far from inclusive – and may actually be a source of harassment, intimidation and exclusion. This affects not just employees’ wellbeing, it also impacts on business bottom lines.
This panel will bring perspectives from a range of industries to consider how organisations can best address, influence and change workplace culture to foster a sense of true inclusion and belonging among employees.
Jenni is the global managing partner of Heidrick & Struggles’ Financial Services Practice based in the London office. She also co-leads the Insurance Practice across Europe and Africa and is a member of the Chief Executive Officer & Board of Directors Practice.
Jenni serves as a non-executive director of the American European Business Association, a business networking forum. She is also an honorary associate of Newnham College, Cambridge University, having served as an elected associate for 10 years.
